Plein Air Pier 57 was a SUCCESS!
What a day! Plein Air Pier 57 was everything I hoped it would be and more!
I hosted a wonderful group of artists on the rooftop of Pier 57 for a day of outdoor painting with the best possible backdrop — spectacular weather and 360-degree views of the NYC skyline all around us!
From pencil sketches to watercolors to oils, artists of every style and experience level spread out across the entire rooftop, each finding their own perfect view to capture. It was such a joy to paint alongside this community and see so many different interpretations of the same skyline come to life!
In the afternoon, we moved into the Seahorse Classroom for show-and-tell, where everyone shared their finished pieces, stories, and lessons learned from the day. Getting to hear each artist’s perspective was honestly one of my favorite parts!
And of course — those who stayed to the end got to enjoy an amazing raffle! Congratulations to everyone who won prizes, and a HUGE thank you to our incredible sponsors whose generosity made it all possible:

Washington Heights artist, Francis Hsueh, has led a number of plein air events throughout NYC. This past summer he was a Teaching Artist at Washington Square Park’s Park Open Studio program where he taught free painting workshops every weekend in May. He also teaches a weekly in-person watercolor class in Washington Heights, and shares tips and tricks on his YouTube channel.
