About Me

My name is Francis Hsueh (pronounced shway) and I am based in the Washington Heights neighborhood of New York City. I'm passionate about painting my urban surroundings and love to capture the corners and vantage points that might otherwise be easily overlooked. I’m also a runner, a father, and I love listening to vinyl records.

Beginnings as SubwaySketcher

Several years ago, I started drawing my fellow commuters on the NYC subway and began sharing my works online as SubwaySketcher. That is still the name of my Etsy shop.

The Art

I create careful but inspired pictures of what I see around me. The original paintings sold in my shop are one-of-a-kind works, and each is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity. I also sell limited edition prints (signed and numbered) and other open edition prints in various sizes.

Shipping

All items ship for free to the U.S.A. directly from me and orders will receive personal care and attention. Artwork will be shipped flat and unframed, insured, and packaged carefully for safe delivery. Free local delivery (within 25 miles of New York City) is available upon request.

All prints are made to order so please allow up to 3 weeks for delivery of a print.

International shipping is calculated at checkout.

While I retain copyright to the image, including the exclusive right to print, publish and sell reproductions of the original work, your purchase of an original painting or custom artwork grants you the original, physical artwork for you to frame, display, or sell as you wish.
