I Painted on Hahnemühle for the First Time. Here's What I Found.

Hahnemühle has been around since the 1500s — and they claim to be the first paper manufacturer in the world to use exclusively vegan sizing. That alone made me curious.
For this test, I painted a scene from Fort Tryon Park: a father and daughter sharing a meal on a stone wall, looking out toward the New Jersey cliffs. It's a quiet, human moment I'd been wanting to paint for a while.
The paper has a slightly smoother surface than what I'm used to, which turned out to be great for fine details — the figures, the stone wall, the lamp post. Wet on wet still worked beautifully. No buckling. No complaints.
If you're looking for a quality 100% cotton paper with a smooth finish, this one's worth a look.
