Testing the Leyton Watercolor Block

I've been testing 11 different 100% cotton watercolor papers to find a reliable alternative to Arches. The Leyton block is the most affordable of the bunch at $0.90 a sheet.

Made in China, gelatin sized (so not vegan), and slightly heavier than standard at 160lb — it's a paper that doesn't get talked about much. I first used it at my plein air event at Pier 57, then brought it into the studio to really push it.

The painting I tested it on was a highway sunset scene from the drive home after dropping our son off at college. Heavy washes, wet on wet clouds, impressionistic cars.
