I had a blast with this commissioned piece which was inspired by my client’s fond memories of playing on the stairs at 215th Street in the Inwood section of Manhattan. The stairs connect Broadway and Park Terrace East. One of the challenges with this scene was how to capture the scale of the stairs. With the help of a friend, we got access to a fire escape. I shot a few photos, and then I got an idea for the final piece. This view from above was the perfect vantage point. It allowed me to show the stairs from a unique perspective, one which recalls the scale and centrality of the stairs, while capturing its surroundings in a fun, fisheye lens format. My client has fond memories playing on the stairs as a child, and now he has a piece commemorating this special part of Inwood hanging in his office.

The original piece was painted with watercolor on 32”x24” Arches cold press paper.

Limited edition fine art prints (11"x14") include a white border and are printed on 100% cotton paper, featuring a distinct textured surface (310 gsm; Acid, OBA, and Lignin Free). Each print is numbered and signed, limited to 50 editions.

All other sizes feature acid-free, 100% cotton rag paper with a bright white, smooth surface.

Framed image is for illustration purposes only.
