GWB Lit Up & the Pumpkin House, watercolor painting

I paid a visit to the Pumpkin House, our local icon of a home that sits on the cliff and looks like a pumpkin when viewed from the river. I loved seeing the George Washington Bridge lit up just beyond, a permanent nightly glow up that we are enjoying immensely.

From the Port Authority’s June 29, 2026 release:

"The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey today announced that it will light the majestic George Washington Bridge’s two towers every night until 10 p.m., complementing the nightly lighting of its cable lights. The permanent tower lighting, which begins at dusk, marks the Port Authority’s celebration of the nation’s 250th birthday this year and was made possible by the installation of new energy-efficient LED lights on the 94-year-old bridge’s towers."
