The sight of a Mister Softee truck parked at Fort Tryon Park's Jacob K. Javits Playground hearkens back to pre-pandemic normalcy. I see this normal scene almost every day, but this one time I found the truck under a magically dim sky, with different light sources clashing in nearly imperceptible tones, and I knew I had to paint it.

Original Painting (16"x20”) has been sold.

Limited edition fine art prints (3 sizes: 16"x20", 12"x16" and 11"x14") include a white border and are printed on 100% cotton paper, featuring a distinct textured surface (310 gsm; Acid, OBA, and Lignin Free). Each print is numbered and signed, limited to 50 editions.

All other sizes feature acid-free, 100% cotton rag paper with a bright white, smooth surface.

Framed image is for illustration purposes only.

    Beauty and Grace

Francis’s water colors capture our Washington Heights neighborhood with beauty and grace. In his paintings the moods of our streets, buildings and people are expressed during different times of the day and night plus the changing seasons. I have his classic Mister Softee at Dusk, a painting that reminds me of a joyful time while raising my children with visits to Jacob Javits playground and the sound of the ice cream truck bell.
